For locals and visitors alike, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer here in Steamboat. While many locals use this as their first opportunity of the year to get out of town for camping, fishing, hiking, biking and more, town is always buzzing throughout the holiday weekend.
If you're in town over the weekend, Mainstreet Steamboat should be on your list of attractions. Shops up and down Lincoln Avenue will be participating in the annual Sidewalk Sale, discounting prices on new summer apparel and gear, as well as offering major discounts on winter items.
Haymaker Golf Course is now open so it's time to pull the golf clubs out of storage and hit the driving range. Their annual Cobweb Classic, the first local golf tournament of the season, is Saturday, May 25th.
For mountain bikers and hikers looking to spend some time hitting the trails, while some areas are still closed after such a snowy winter, many trails are open and in great shape for a fun ride, hike or trail run. Up to date information on local trails can be found here. If you're a biker in need of new wheels or looking to get rid of a bike, check out the Bike Swap at Howelsen Hill on Saturday the 25th.
There will also be plenty of live music over the weekend, including a local band, Buffalo Commons, playing at our local brewery, Butcherknife Brewing Company on Sunday, May 26th.
In the market for a new home or know someone who is? Steamboat Sotheby's International Realty is having a Memorial Day Open House Tour on Saturday, May 25th, from 2-5pm. Grab a Steamboat Today newspaper on the 25th for more information on what properties you can visit and a map of locations.
